The Capital Region Employer Alliance (CREA) is a partnership of private sector employers, job placement specialists and government agencies promoting workforce development and employment of persons with disabilities.

The Capital Region Employer Alliance (CREA) is a standing committee of the Job Placement Consortium of the Northeast

Alliance partners are committed to:

  • Plan and host the National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) Employer Awards every October
  • Promote the good business practice of hiring qualified workers with disabilities by offering a "business to business" network for employers
  • Offering links and introductions to industry colleagues and groups
  • Support a workforce development network by offering employment readiness guidance
  • Contributing insights and information on industry recruitments and employment challenges
  • Offering mentoring opportunities, mock interviews
  • Serving as a business advisory group to us all
  • Coordination with similar initiatives & groups in the region, i.e. Northeast Career Planning Business Advisory Committee and Mental Health Association of New York Business Advisory Committee

Committee membership

The CREA membership is made up of employers and one representative from each of DOL, JSEC, VESID, CBVH, ESD, and JPC.

Benefit to the JPC

As a standing committee of the JPC, CREA supports the JPC deliverables as identified in the contract with VESID to:

  • Improve employment opportunities for individuals with barriers to employment by promoting networking and cooperation between members
  • Improve services to the business contacts made by the JPC members
  • Take a leadership role promoting member integration of job seekers and business services in the local workforce development network, the One Stop delivery system, and Disability Program Navigators

Initial goals

  • Expand the alliance membership to include representatives from industry groups so that the alliance is a cross section of major industries in this area - (identified area in need of recruitment are manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality/tourism, communication, high tech and distribution. JPC members will be called upon to recommend employers.
  • Develop a strategy to link the workforce development system for people with disabilities to CREA. JPC members will be called upon to host CREA meeting and showcase their employment services.

Directions to the JPC Office

To get to the JPC Office once you are at Crossgates Mall,

  • Enter the blue exit door located between CVS and KB Toys. The door says "Emergency Exit" but don't be deterred from entering.
  • Follow the signs to the end of the long hallway and take a right.
  • Go straight and then take a left and then an immediate right.
  • Notice the "bank-like" windows on your right.
  • If you are seeking job services, come to the first window for assistance.
  • If you are a JPC member, employee or volunteer, go past the windows to the door on the right and ring the doorbell.
